Helia Smart Light Bulbs

Called Helia, the new line of bulbs from Soraa are LED lights that aim to recreate the feel of natural sunlight. The bulbs, which rely on sensors rather than Wi-Fi, emit bright blue light in the morning when you're waking up and then slowly reduce the amount of blue light until the sun sets and all blue light is eliminated. It's kind of light iOS's Night Shift mode and the result is light that's easier on your tired eyes (and brain) and less disruptive to your sleep.


AIRE Digestive Tracker


The AIRE by FoodMarble is a portable app-connected gadget that is able to analyze the amount of gas in your bloodstream the way a breathalyzer would monitor your blood alcohol level. According to FoodMarble, certain foods that don't gel with your system cause a buildup of gas in your gut. Using a series of breath tests and food tracking, the AIRE can help you find out which foods don't agree with your body so that you can live a more comfortable life.

Willow Hands-free Breast Pump

Willow's hands-free breast pump could be a game-changer for new mothers tired of noisy and cumbersome electric breast pumps. The set of two wearable pumps slip into the wearer's bra and simply pump until its bags are full. The product is remarkably quiet, so it can be worn out of the house while women go about their daily activities. Willow is also FDA-approved and simple to clean, with parts that are dishwasher safe. Of course, an intuitive, hands-free pump doesn't come cheap -- when it launches this spring, it will retail for $429.99, plus $0.50 per milk storage bag.

PowerRay underwater fishing robot

PowerRay is an underwater drone for fishing that's able to dive to around 100 feet. Equipped with sonar, PowerRay can detect fish at distances of up to 120 feet beneath it and lure them in with a special fish-attracting light. Should the day's potential catch still prove to be elusive, PowerRay has a remote-controlled bait-drop system that should do the trick. For the pilots up on deck, there's WiFi connectivity and a real-time video feed from the onboard 4K camera of what's going on down below. For the real high-tech angler, that video feed can also be viewed in, and controlled by, VR goggles.


Lego Boost

Lego creations are about to get way more fun. Priced at $160 per set, the new Lego Boost teaches your kids how to bring their building blocks to life with code. Thanks to a mix of sensors and motors, the Lego creation can be programmed with an app to follow different commands, like moving or rolling around depending on what you're building. There are five different models, including a cat and a guitar. The Boost will be available in August.

Probably most of you are already using Chrome as your primary browser. If not, switch to it immediately. Chrome is extremely fast and flexible when compared to any other browser.
These tips will help you to get most out of the Chrome browser.

1. Pin Tab.




If you are someone who has generally large number of tab open then you will find this 'Pin Tab' technique useful.The pin tab reduce the tab size to favicon. Right click on tab and select pin tab to get it done, simple.

2. Drag and Re-size textbox on webpages.

Another good feature. A lot of times, the text boxes on webpages are annoying. They are too small and after you have typed a few lines, you get a scroll bar which is irritating. On Chrome, you could actually drag that box from the corner and make it bigger. You could try it right now with the comment box at the bottom of this page.

3. Open Accidentally Closed Tabs.

If you are a heavy tab user and have got too many tabs open in Chrome then identifying them is a problem, and you could end up spending considerable amount of time to find out which tab you closed accidentally. You can quickly reopen that tab before you lose track. i.e. simply ctrl + shift + T.

4. Task Manager.

Yeah I am saying Task manager in chrome. Chrome treats each and every tab as a separate process, so if one of them starts creating problem it can be killed and browser crash could be prevented. We can see memory and CPU resource consumed by each tab. You can access it through Tools_> Task Manager or by pressing SHIFT + Esc.



5. Drag Multiple Tabs at once.

Most of us are familiar with dragging one tab into new window. You can do that with multiple windows too, simply use ctrl Key and select other tab (same as selecting multiple files) and then drag it to other window.


6. Drag and Drop Search.

It was the nice and quick way to search word by electing it and 'search google for...' You can do that in a new and quick way too. Simply select the word you want to search and then drag it to 'new tab' button it will show result in new tab with your default search engine.  Or there is an extension available here which is customizable.

7. About Memory.




For the geeks among you, Chrome provides an “About memory” page that can accessed by typing about: memory in the address bar. This gives detailed insights into how different processes in the browser are consuming memory. This shows memory usage of all running browser.

8. Navigate Between Tabs Quickly.

Use Ctrl+Tab to navigate Tabs one by one

Press Ctrl-1 to go to 1st Tab
Press Ctrl-2 to go to 2nd Tab
...
Press Ctrl-9 to switch to the last Tab

9. Use AutoFill to Auto-Complete an Address.

If you find yourself typing your address time and time again,you might want to consider Chrome's AutoFill options which can remember it and save you the repeat effort. Go to settings -> Options -> Personal Stuff -> Click on the check-box “Enable Autofill to fill out web forms in a single click” -> Click on Manager autofill settings -> Click on ‘Add new Address’ and enter the information.

You can also choose to add a credit card via AutoFill, but for security reasons we'd advise thinking twice before going down that route.

10. Google Chrome Browser Shortcuts Keys.

The following are some useful shortcuts:

Alt+F – Open the wrench menu (i.e. chrome settings menu).
Ctrl+J – Go to downloads window.
Ctrl+H – Go to history window.
Ctrl+Tab – Navigate Tabs.
Alt+Home – Go to home page.
Ctrl+U – View source code of the current page.
Ctrl+K – To search quickly in the address bar.
Ctrl+L – Highlights the URL in the address bar (use this to copy/paste the URL quickly).
Ctrl+N – Open a new Chrome browser window.
Ctrl+Shift+N – Open a new incognito window (for private browsing).
Ctrl+Shift+B – Toggle bookmark display.
Ctrl+W – Close the current Tab.
Alt+Left Arrow – Go to the previous page from your history.
Alt+Right Arrow – Go to the next page from your history.
Space bar – Scroll down the current web page.

Mobile link sharing is a clumsy rigmarole of app switching and copy & pasting. So to get more people posting links, Facebook is testing an in-app keyword search engine that lets you find websites and articles to add to your status updates. Alongside buttons to add photos or locations, some iOS users are seeing a new “Add A Link” option. Just punch in a query, and Facebook will show a list of matching links you might want to share, allow you to preview what’s on those sites, and let you tap one to add it to your status with a caption or share statement. Results seem to be sorted by what users are most likely to share, highlighting recently published sites that have been posted by lots of people.


Facebook confirming to TechCrunch that “We’re piloting a new way to add a link that’s been shared on Facebook to your posts and comments.”

 The trial is only available to a small group in the US, but there’s a lot of potential here. Facebook tells that it indexed over one trillion posts to let people search for links that have been shared with them. That means it’s search engine powered by data Google doesn’t have. If rolled out to all users, it would let them avoid Googling or digging through Facebook’s News Feed to find a link to share. The “Add A Link” button could get users sharing more news and other publisher-made content. Not only does that fill the News Feed with posts that Facebook can put ads next to. It also gives it structured data about what kind of news and publishers you care about, as well as the interests of your friends depending on if they click or Like your story.



Facebook has become the juggernaut of referral traffic, delivering almost 25% of all social clicks in late 2014, compared to just 0.88% for Twitter. Keeping that stat high goads publishers to push their content to Facebook, expend resources to format it as appealingly as possible, and buy ads to amplify its reach. This all benefits Facebook. A boost from the Add A Link button could make publishers even more dependent on the social network.

The feature might also feed in nicely to Facebook’s hosted content project. Several outlets have reported on Facebook’s plans to imbibe content from publishers such as news articles, and display them natively in the News Feed rather than making users click out and wait for the slow mobile webpages to load. In exchange for enriching its feed and making it even tougher to look away from, Facebook plans to split ad revenue with the publishers.

The Wall Street Journal says the program could launch soon, and Facebook might give publishers 100% of ad revenue if they sell what’s shown next to the articles. If Facebook sells the ads, it might get 30%. The scheme would keep users on Facebook when they consume content rather than popping into browser windows where they might be more likely to end their Facebook session. Similarly, Add A Link could keep users on Facebook when they go to share content too. The garden’s walls grow ever taller.

New algorithm exploits multiple reflections in individual images to distinguish reflection from transmission.

It’s hard to take a photo through a window without picking up reflections of the objects behind you. To solve that problem, professional photographers sometimes wrap their camera lenses in dark cloths affixed to windows by tape or suction cups. But that’s not a terribly attractive option for a traveler using a point-and-shoot camera to capture the view from a hotel room or a seat in a train.


Researchers from MIT have developed a process that could one day extract your reflection from such pictures, leaving only the intended subject on the other side of the glass. This process actually relies upon the most severe sort of reflections as those are easier to pick out. Specifically, anything taken through double pane glass or very thick glass tends to have two overlapping reflections, one from the inner surface and one from the outer one. If you only have one reflection, it’s a very computationally complex problem for an algorithm to figure out what’s a reflection and what isn’t. With two identical offset images that are reflections, suddenly the computer has a point of reference.

The system created by the MIT team relies on finding the edges of the reflection by looking for a repeating offset pattern. The image is split into 8×8 blocks of pixels and calculates the correlation between the pixels. When the parts of the image comprising the reflection have been identified, the computer can then selectively tune the levels to  make the reflection less pronounced. You can see an example of the results in the image above. It’s far from perfect, but this is just the first iteration of the technology.

This process currently requires the offset of the double reflection to be rather large to ensure the algorithm can recognize them as distinct shapes, but things might improve in the future. The team sees possible applications for this technology in consumer imaging technologies. Your phone might just know how to reduce reflections when you snap a photo through the window. These algorithms could also be of use in improving computer vision. Despite all the research that has gone into it, computers are still pretty bad at making sense of an image.

A quick search for the term “dual boot” will turn up dozens of articles about how Intel, Asus, Samsung, and many other companies have at least explored the concept of dual-booting Windows and Android, or even Windows Phone and Android, only to eventually end up canceling these projects.

With a number of companies and, potentially, consumers interested in the idea of dual booting, why do these projects never seem to work out?

For one thing, Google reportedly doesn't approve of the idea and, considering the pull it has over OEM's. Microsoft is also said to have reservations about the concept, even if to a lesser extent. That’s not stopping Chinese company Elephone from jumping into the ring with a dual-booting phone, however. After all, Elephone doesn’t have the same Google-restricted relationship that OEMs like Samsung and Asus are in, leaving Elephone free to do just about whatever it wants.


Elephone's upcoming (currently unnamed) handset will ship in two versions, one with only Android 5.0 Lollipop, and the other with Windows 10 and Android 5.0 Lollipop running in dual-boot. The former will arrive sometime in May, with the dual-boot option arriving in June.

The Elephone handset is expected to offer a 5.5-inch display with a 2560 x 1440 resolution. The Android only version will offer a 64-bit MediaTek MTK6795, while the dual-boot variant will be powered by an Intel Atom chip. Cameras will also differ, with the Android-only model featuring a 21MP IMX 230, with the dual-boot version offering a 20.7-megapixel Sony IMX 230 camera. Regardless of whether you’re getting the dual-booting model or the Android version, you’ll get a massive 4GB RAM, a fingerprint scanner, and a battery that’s “more than 3,800mAh”. Not bad specs at all.


It’s unclear exactly how much the Elephone dual-booter will cost, but we imagine it will be pretty affordable, despite the high-end specs. Of course, we also wouldn’t expect it to be widely available outside of China.

That said, if you really are intrigued by the idea of dual-booting, getting your hands on one through an import site probably won’t be terribly difficult. As for those unfamiliar with Elephone, it typically doesn’t produce the most impressive devices on the market.

Google Search... We use it every day, but still all we know is how to search. But the search engine has plenty of tricks up its sleeve. Here’s an overview of some of the most useful Google search tricks, from basic tips to new features just recently released.


1. Google Gravity.

Go to google and type “Google Gravity” and hit I’m felling lucky button or open first link.


2. Find a website with similar content to URL you already know.

The Scenario: We Want to find an e-commerce website similar to Flipkart.
The Solution- Type: related:flipkart.com.
NOTE: related:flipkart.com and related: flipkart.com are not same.


3. Search Within A Website. 

The Scenario: want to restrict your search results to the site or domain.
The Solution: Type "site:" followed by the URL of the website you'd like to search. Then add your search terms or you can also do it like this.
Eg:- "windows security site:microsoft.com".


4. Search With Handwrite Keyboard.

Try a new way of searching Google: just write your query anywhere on the screen! Handwrite is a beta feature, available on Google.com from your smartphone or tablet. You can activate or disable Handwrite from your mobile search settings.

Turn Handwrite on or off.
1. Visit the Search settings page from your phone or tablet.
2. Go to the Handwrite section.
3. Select Enable to turn on and Disable to turn off.
4.At the bottom of the page, touch Save.

5. Keep It Simple.

Keep your search phrase as simple as possible.
Eg:- "Where can I find a Chinese restaurant". Could be searched like: “Chinese Restaurant Nearby” (Google uses your location to search).

6. Use hyphen ‘-‘ to exclude searches.

The Solution: so I can exclude  animal by:-"Jaguar –animal". This will give me result of Jaguar Car only.


7. See weather info.

Type “CITY” forecast or you can also type "weather City_name/Zipcode" in Google Search.


8. Use Asterisks as Wild Card Words.

If there’s a popular phrase that you can’t remember fully, you can use asterisk to your advantage and search for the entire phrase in Google. Add an asterisk within a search as a placeholder for any unknown words. Type in something like a * saved is a * earned and you’ll get back different variations of the popular saying.


9. Search For Words In Exact Order.

When you put a word or phrase in quotes, the results will only include pages with the same words in the same order as the ones inside the quotes. Only use this if you're looking for an exact word or phrase, otherwise you'll exclude many helpful results by mistake.
Eg:- "imagine all the people" with quotes.

10. Google offline Game.

Slow internet or offline? Getting Bored? Try this on Google Chrome.
For Mobile: Just drag dragon up and start playing.
For PC: Press Up Arrow Key and get started.

Australian researchers are using 4D printing to create self-folding objects.

Researchers from the University of Wollongong in Australia have 4D printed a valve that automatically opens and contracts under the influence of water and temperature - and it’s just one of the many applications of technology that promises to revolutionize how we build objects forever.



Already, 3D printing has opened up a whole world of research possibilities. We’re now able to custom-print bionic body parts, print our own guns and even print entire buildings. But 4D printing adds a whole other dimension to this technology: time.

This means that researchers are now able to custom-design and print an object, but also give it the ability to change its shape, fold itself or even self-assemble under the influence of different factors, such as temperature, pressure, magnetic field or even vibrations.
"4D printing is in essence 3D printed structures that can change their shape over time," lead researcher Marc in het Panhuis, from the University of Wollongong's ARC Centre of Excellence for Electromaterials Sciencetold Nicky Phillips from the Sydney Morning Herald​. "They're like transformers.”
For example, 4D printing can be used to create furniture that assembles itself when you heat it with a hairdryer - no Allen Key required. Or from a more scientific point of view, it can help create sensitive and responsive parts for machinery, medical research and robotics.

Just picture medical implants that can change their shape inside the body, or buildings that adjust themselves when it’s hot, in order to save on heating and cooling requirements. But this new development by the University of Wollongong is the first time researchers have been able to combine a 4D printer with four different types of hydrogel ‘ink’. The process has been described in the journal Macromolecular Rapid Communications.

The valve itself was 3D printed using both tough and soft hydrogels, which are flexible but strong materials that can be embedded with different properties. But what’s really cool about this valve, is it’s created a mechanic device that’s completely autonomous - no power source or programming required.
"The cool thing about it is, is it’s a working functioning device that you just pick up from the printer," in het Panhuis explained in a press release. "There’s no other assembly required."

The actuators, or the parts that make the valve close, were printed in order to activated solely by water.
“So it’s an autonomous valve, there’s no input necessary other than water; it closes itself when it detects hot water,” said in het Panhuis.
The group is now also looking into more sophisticated designs, and are hoping to print pipes that can change size depending on water demands, as well as military objects that can self destruct when they’re not longer required, as in het Panhuis told Phillips.
"When armies are on the battlefield they leave a lot of electronics behind. What if you could make 3D printed electronics that [once the soldiers leave] undergo transient behaviour once they become too hot, or too cold, or too wet so they completely disappear so the enemy can't use any of your materials," he said.
Given the way 3D printing has already changed our world, we’re pretty excited about the possibilities that are going to come with adding an extra dimension.
